Shaping Tomorrow: Collective Efforts for the Future of European Journalism

Journalism in Europe today faces a range of serious challenges, from shifting media markets and fragile press freedom to shrinking audiences and changes brought about by technological developments. As journalists strive to future-proof their outlets in response to these threats, it is vital that we work together and share solutions for the greater good of the industry.  

On 12 March 2025, the European Press Prize, in collaboration with Publix, will host a dynamic one-day conference in Berlin focusing on the future of journalism in Europe, titled “Shaping Tomorrow: Collective Efforts for the Future of European Journalism”. Throughout the day, speakers will explore the challenges European journalism faces and what can be done to tackle them through interactive sessions, workshops, and constructive dialogue.

The conference’s list of speakers boasts many members of the European Press Prize Community including representatives of the Preparatory Committee and our Laureates as well as individuals from the resident organisations of Publix. With experience in various journalistic fields, and coming from a multitude of European countries, speakers will explore innovative approaches, share insights, and work together to envision a collective way forward.

The event will take place at the home of Publix in Berlin. Publix opened in 2024 with the mission of creating a space for all those who engage in journalism, shape the public sphere, and strengthen democracy. Both Publix and the European Press Prize are committed to fostering a journalistic environment that strengthens democracy, creating an ideal partnership for this particular conference. Participation in the conference is free of charge. We particularly welcome applications from young professionals and students. Due to limited capacity, we might not be able to accept all registrations. You will hear from us again regarding your registration in February.
