Mubarek Asani

Mubarek Asani was selected for the 2021 European Press Prize shortlist with ‘Vote selling network exposed by CIN reporters.’

Mubarek Asani is an investigative journalist, producer and the first VJ in the Balkans. Born on August 15, 1978 in Tetovo, North Macedonia, studied political science at the University of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. In 2003, he was awarded an EU scholarship for a one-year journalism study, which he graduated as the most successful television journalist. He did a thesis on the rights of minorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which he presented through a short documentary TV story “Confession of the Shadows”. After graduation he was invited to be a lecturer at the same journalism study course in Sarajevo. During his long career, Asani worked on the most difficult journalistic tasks such as those on drug trafficking, tobacco smuggling, terrorism, prostitution, judicial crime, election vote-trading, and illegal exploitation of natural resources. He has been working for the Center for investigative Reporting (CIN) since 2007.

Denis Dmitriev

Denis Dmitriev has been a journalist for news outlet Meduza since its foundation in 2014. Before that, he worked at the news site Lenta.ru for eight years. As an explanatory journalist he tries to clarify different various complex and confusing issues like the recent amendments to the Russian Constitution.

Denis is experienced in data journalism and occasionally takes part in investigative reporting. His areas of interest cover the Russian legal system, internet censorship, personal cybersecurity and Russian electoral system (especially the Moscow blockchain voting system). Denis currently resides in Riga, Latvia.
