Marzena Skubatz

Marzena Skubatz was selected as runner-up for the 2022 European Press Prize Innovation Award for ‘This is us.’ 

Marzena Skubatz lived in Iceland for several years, where she worked on her freelance photography projects, which have already been exhibited in museums and published in The New York Times, among others. She is particularly interested in people who live and work in hard-to-reach places in harsh weather conditions, and whose livelihoods are threatened in the face of the effects of climate change. Her focus is increasingly on issues related to the climate crisis and feminism. Marzena studied photography in Dortmund and is a member of Women Photograph. She works on assignments for DIE ZEIT, ZEITmagazin and ZEIT ONLINE, The Washington Post, The New Yorker, The Guardian, The Wallstreet Journal, Stern and many other publications and NGOs.
