Hazel Sheffield is an investigative, multimedia journalist based in the UK. She was formerly the business editor of the Independent and now covers underreported stories from the margins in Britain. In 2019, her reporting project on emerging local economies Far Nearer was highly commended in the Georgina Henry Award for Innovation at the Society Of Editors’ Press Awards. She is a former Fulbright scholar in the US and a 2018 fellow of the International Journalists’ Programme in Germany.
