Louise Culot
Louise Culot was selected for the 2021 European Press Prize shortlist with ‘Sisters of Europe.’
Louise Culot is a journalist and communications consultant for international organisations based in Brussels. She covers environmental, migration and gender issues from a social perspective. Her features are published in Belgian and French magazines like Usbek and Rica, ELLE, 24h01 and Le Vif L’Express. Since 2017, she has been teaching communication and media analysis at the EPHEC high school in Brussels. European-minded since her childhood, she has enjoyed each opportunity to travel, study and work abroad. She is fluent in German, Italian, Spanish and English and is looking forward to adding Dutch to the mix.
Alexander Chekmenev
Alexander Chekmenev was selected for the 2021 European Press Prize shortlist with ‘Sisters of Europe.’
Alexander Chekmenev was born in Luhansk, Ukraine and started his career as a photographer in a small photo studio in 1988. In his free time, he photographed people on the streets and homes who were affected the most by the economic crisis after the collapse of the Soviet Union. His work provides an intimate and unique view on the transition of coal mining regions in the 90s in Eastern Ukraine. He works as a photojournalist and has published two books: Donbass by Kehrer (2011) and Passport by Dewi Lewis (2017). All projects are shot on negative film.
