Maxim Sarychau
Maxim Sarychau was selected for the 2021 European Press Prize shortlist with ‘Sisters of Europe.’
Maxim Sarychau is a photojournalist and visual artist based in Minsk, Belarus. He produces long-term visual projects that focus on themes of violence, collective memory and history, both in authoritarian and traditional societies. Maxim is the winner of PRAFOTA 2015 and Belarus Press Photo 2015, and has been published in Stern Crime, Der Spiegel, Meduza, TUT.BY, Cicero, TAZ, Forbes Russia and Fotograf magazine. He’s the co-founder of SHKLO, an online platform about Belarusian photography and visual arts.
Mélanie Wenger
Mélanie Wenger was selected for the 2021 European Press Prize shortlist with ‘Sisters of Europe.’
Mélanie Wenger is a French photojournalist based in Brussels and is represented by Cosmos Photo Agency. A graduate in literature and journalism, she is part of the 2018 LensCulture Emerging Talents. She has been exhibited in galleries, museums and festivals in France, as well as in New York and has worked with Le Figaro Magazine, VSD and National Geographic among other publications. Recently, she has been exploring augmented reality to find new ways of communication between magazines and web-platforms. She is a laureate of the 2017 HSBC Prize for Photography and published the book Marie-Claude with Actes Sud in 2017.
