Hans Hack was selected for the 2019 European Press Prize shortlist with ‘Radmesser

Hans Hack is a freelance web developer, datavisualiser, map maker, artist and tool builder working in the field of data visualization with a strong focus on maps. He also works for Datawrapper where he develops a tool that empowers journalists to create maps. Hans has worked for diverse newspapers and he occasionally publishes private data journalist projects on his site.

Andreas Baum

Andreas Baum was selected for the 2019 European Press Prize shortlist with ‘Radmesser

Andreas Baum is a freelance journalist. In 2019 he joined the newly established Tagesspiegel Innovation Lab in Berlin, where he works on new journalistic formats, interactive maps and graphics, the analysis of large data sets and citizen research.

For the “Radmesser” project, he was involved in sensor construction, testing, support and instruction as well as desk research.

From 2011 to 2016, Andreas Baum was a member of the Berlin State Parliament, spokesman for transport policy and parliamentary party leader. Before his political career he developed systems for 3D visualizations of live sports events on TV and the web, after completing his vocational training as an industrial electronics technician.
