David van Reybrouck
Writer David Van Reybrouck (Bruges, 1971) is one of the leading authors of his generation. He studied archaeology and philosophy at the universities of Leuven and Cambridge and obtained his PhD in Leiden.
He worked for six years independently on the book “Congo: the Epic history of a People”. This book became a bestseller. Congo has been translated several times and is now available in Norwegian, German, French, Swedish, Danish and Finnish. Translations into Polish, English and Chinese are expected.
David Van Reybrouck writes poems and is the founder of the Brussels Poets’ Collective. Since 2011 he has been chairman of the authors’ association PEN Vlaanderen. In the same year he joined the G1000 project, the platform for democratic innovation that aims for more citizen participation in democratic decision-making.
David Van Reybrouck was selected for the 2018 European Press Prize shortlist with “Should media report differently in the wake of attacks? Think about it and join the discussion!“
Daphné Gastaldi
Based in Lyon (France)Daphne Gastaldi is an independent journalists. She is member of the European collective of freelance journalists We Report. She is collaborating with several news websites, print magazines and radio programs like Mediapart and Radio France Internationale. In the last years, she has produced several international reports. Currently, she is working on long-term stories and investigations in France and Europe. She is one of the co-authors of the investigative book « Church, code of silence » (JC Lattes, 2017).
Daphné Gastaldi was selected for the 2018 European Press Prize shortlist with ‘Sex abuse scandal in French Catholic Church’.
