Daniel Howden

Daniel Howden was selected for the 2023 Shortlist with Flight of the predator: Jet linked to Israeli spyware tycoon delivers surveillance tech from the EU to notorious Sudanese militia.

Daniel is a founder and director of Lighthouse Reports. He’s a writer, editor and reporter who has worked in print, online and documentary film. In recent years his work has focused on migration and the rise of the surveillance industry. He’s reported from more than 50 countries and spent much of his career as a foreign correspondent for the Economist, the Guardian and the Independent, after starting out at Reuters. He was Visiting Fellow at Oxford University’s Refugee Studies Centre and was Senior Editor at Refugees Deeply.
