Looking back at the International Journalism Festival

Today’s journalism lives in a blessed but difficult area where tradition, ethics, and a necessary push towards innovation meet. All of this, we found at the International Journalism Festival of Perugia, where we hosted a panel dedicated to the importance of awards for the profession.

It felt great to be back to live events, and it felt even better to do so in Perugia, with a panel dedicated to what we try to be the best at: awarding, celebrating, and supporting journalism.

Our Moderator, Gian-Paolo Accardo, CEO of Voxeurop and long-time international journalist, guided us through the advantages and the pitfalls of journalistic awards, in a conversation with three world-class journalists: Alan Rusbridger, Megha Rajagopalan, and Alexandra Föderl-Schmid.

We also, because one other thing that is like oxygen for journalists is networking, organized a private event in the wonderful rooms of the Hotel Brufani. There, we gathered our extended family of members, partners, judges, and all the Prize Laureates present at the Festival, to talk about journalism and come finally come together, after so many months of online meetings and canceled trips.

During the event, our Director Thomas van Neerbos revealed the list of 20 pieces that have been shortlisted for this year’s edition of the Prize. Some of the finalists were present, and they had the opportunity to take the stage and talk about their projects.

We want to thank everyone who attended our panel and all the professionals that joined us for our networking event. The next stop will be the award ceremony, where we will celebrate the best journalism of 2022. See you there!
